Precision attachments are the functional mechanical parts of the removable partial denture made of plastic, metal or a combination of both. They consist of two parts referred as the male part that is fixed to a crown inside the patient’s mouth and a female part which holds the partial denture.
Overview
Precision attachments connect a removable prosthesis to crowns, bridges or implants through a mechanical interface instead of a clasp. The attachment type decides the path of insertion, the retention and how much vertical space the case needs, so it is normally chosen together with the restorative plan.
Fabrication
We seat stud, ball, locator and bar-type attachments into the framework at the bench, using the manufacturer's pre-formed components rather than a copy. Replaceable male parts are supplied as spares, since the retention element wears before the prosthesis does.
Space requirements
Every attachment needs a defined minimum height and width between the abutment and the saddle. Send the opposing model or an articulated scan and we will confirm the space before milling, which avoids a remake caused by an attachment that will not fit.
